Oh, our beds are not that huge!!! We are building twelve 3 foot (or 4) by 8 foot beds. A big square in the middle of the garden, with 6 beds on either side. The weeds got the best of us last year...so this is to help. Advice wise...fill the bed with some good organic material. Layering is always good. Start with healthy plants. Organic if possible. Dig around the plants a few times a week to pull weeds and aerate soil. A nice hand "claw" would work well in a raised bed. Only use organic material if possible when and if you feed. We use fish emulsion...but be careful that it's organic too. It is so much fun. Your first garden will thrive. Just make sure someone tends it while you are away. Enjoy. Gardening should be relaxing...not stressful. And don't forget pictures :0
